Who we are?

In Lancashire each local Council is required by law to work together in partnership with Lancashire Police Constabulary, Police Authority, Fire & Rescue Service, Primary Care Trusts and Probation Trust.

These partnerships are called Community Safety Partnerships and they are responsible for working together to reduce crime and disorder, anti-social behaviour, substance misuse and re-offending.

We are the countywide community safety partnership structure in Lancashire and are supported by our local community safety partnerships in: Blackburn; Blackpool; Burnley; Chorley; Fylde; Hyndburn; Lancaster; Pendle; Preston; Ribble Valley; Rossendale; South Ribble; West Lancashire and Wyre.

We are made up of statutory organisations referred to as responsible authorities that include: Lancashire County Council and district councils; Chairs of district and unitary community safety partnerships; Lancashire Constabulary; Lancashire Police Authority; Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service; East, Central and North Lancashire Primary Care Trusts and Lancashire Probation Trust.

We also work in partnership with non statutory organisations that include: Crown Prosecution Service; HM Prison Service; Lancashire Drug and Alcohol Action Teams; Lancashire Youth Offending Teams and representatives from the Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector.

What we do?

Safer Lancashire supports and coordinates the work of all Community Safety Partnerships across Lancashire by producing:

• An annual strategic assessment to identify community safety priorities across Lancashire.
• A '3 year' community safety agreement to coordinate activities to address the community safety priorities across Lancashire.

We meet with partner agencies on a quarterly basis and consult and engage with our communities throughout the year to encourage and empower them to undertake local projects and initiatives.
