Lancashire Constabulary LinkLancashire Constabulary's aim is to provide a policing service that makes the public of Lancashire feel safe, involved and reassured.

It plans to achieve this by:

  • Reassuring the public of Lancashire;
  • Reducing crime;
  • Making roads safer.

And by focus our policing on:

  • Local communities;
  • Using intelligence to achieve our aim;
  • Addressing the root causes of problems, with the help of other organisations.

The Chief Constable and their Chief Officer Team who are based at Headquarters in Hutton, Preston, provide the overall direction and co-ordination of the force. Headquarters is also the base for the force's operations division that includes specialist units such as major crime, motorway and air support as well as operations planning and support.

Six territorial divisions - each of which has devolved responsibility for a particular area, deliver local policing services.

Western Division - Blackpool, Kirkham, Lytham and Bispham.
Northern Division - Carnforth, Morecambe, Garstang, Lancaster and Fleetwood.
Southern Division - Ormskirk, Skelmersdale, Adlington, Chorley and Leyland.
Central Division - Preston city centre and its outlying residential areas.
Eastern Division - Accrington, Blackburn, Darwen and Clitheroe.
Pennine Division - Colne, Nelson, Bacup and Burnley.

Each division has its own policing plan which sets out how policing services will be delivered locally. These include the commitment to:

  • Respond to emergencies.
  • Make the best use possible of the resources available for the benefit of the public.
  • Ensure that operational policing receives the highest priority when resources and equipment are allocated.
  • Thoroughly investigate serious crimes and serious road collisions using specialist support where appropriate.
  • Be accessible by telephone, personal contact and through electronic means.
  • Provide a visible and focused presence in communities.
  • Work in partnership with others.
  • Deliver services fairly and positively, reinforce commitment to human rights and community and race relations.
