Tell Tale Signs

The following can be used as a guideline to determine if your child is using drugs. Remember don't jump to conclusions - one or more of these signs does not indicate a definite involvement in drug use

• Change in appetite
• Theft of household articles
• Untruthful stories
• Change in behaviour
• Change in functioning
• Episodes of intoxication e.g slurred speech, staggering gait, etc
• Legal problems
• Change in physical appearance e.g red eyes, puffy face etc
• Possession of needles, broken bottles, leaves etc.
• Change of behaviour e.g moody and irritable
• Loss of interest in school and work activities
• Lies
• Any drastic change in personality
• Disinterest in activities

It is normal to be shocked and dissappointed when you find out that your child is using drugs, but remember it doesn't help to shout and scream. Stay calm and seek help immediately
