Blackburn with Darwen - Community Safety Strategy 2002-2005
This is the second Crime and Disorder Reduction Strategy to be published by the Blackburn with Darwen Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership. The Strategy will provide the focus for the Partnership's work over the next three years and contains demanding targets that will require a real collective effort to meet. The Strategy must make a difference and our key aims are to make the Borough a safer place for us all to live, work and visit.
The Strategy has been expanded to include the issue of substance misuse. The Drug Action Team since its establishment in 2000/2001, has forged close links and engaged in joint working with the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership.During public consultation on the priorities to be included within this Strategy, the issue of substance misuse (drugs/alcohol) was consistently prioritised. It is recognised that the many issues that the two partnerships are trying to address, overlap and to effectively reduce crime and disorder, substance misuse must be addressed. It was therefore decided to amalgamate the Drug Action Team priorities within the Crime and Disorder Reduction Strategy.
Joint action has been undertaken by the agencies, businesses, the voluntary sector and residents involved in the Partnership over the last three years to reduce crime and disorder within the Borough. The Crime and Disorder Reduction Steering Group would like to thank all partners for their contributions and look forward to working together over the next three years to meet the demanding targets in the new strategy to further reduce key crimes, improve quality of life and provide reassurance.
