Fylde District - Crime Audit

The Fylde Borough Community Safety Partnership has produced its third Crime and Disorder Audit for this area. The previous audit led to a three-year Community Safety Strategy, which concludes at the end of March 2005. That Strategy identified a number of specific priorities and targets to achieve during its three-year life and has been, on the whole, quite a success. The roll out of CCTV throughout the district perhaps, being the most significant achievement, which has undoubtedly reduced anti-social behaviour, crime and the fear of crime in hotspot areas.

This audit has identified six draft priority areas to focus the next three years work on which will build on the achievements of the last Strategy rather than simply abandoning the previous good work and lurching towards other solutions.

We are clearly reminded through the public consultations that quality of life issues and the fear of crime must be given at least equal status with crime reduction initiatives. It is of little use if the numbers of crime incidents are reduced but this does not have a positive impact on those who live, work in or visit the Borough of Fylde.
