Fylde District - Strategic Assessments

Fylde Strategic Assessment 2009/10 Refresh

The aim of the 2009/10 Strategic Assessment is to present and interpret the summary findings of an intelligence analysis, and provide knowledge and understanding of community safety problems that will inform and enable the partners to;

  • Understand the patterns, trend and shifts relating to crime and disorder and substance misuse.
  • Set clear and robust priorities for the partnership.
  • Develop activity that is driven by reliable intelligence and meets the needs of the local community.
  • Deploy resources effectively and present value for money and undertake annual reviews and plan activities, based on a clear understanding of the issues and priorities.

The Top Five Priorities have been identified as follows:

  1. To make the Community feel safer by tackling the causes of crime and taking positive steps to reduce the fear of crime particularly in relation to Serious Acquisitive Crime. Including rural acquisitive crime.
  2. To reassure the Community by tackling the causes of Anti Social Behaviour with emphasis on rowdy behaviour and animal related problems. Encourage young people to make a positive impact within the community ensuring that this is properly recognised and there is discouragement of risk taking behaviour.
  3. To address the effects of problematic substance misuse (drugs and Alcohol) through increasing awareness and tackling the causes.
  4. To create a safer environment for the victims of violent crime including domestic abuse in hotspot wards throughout the borough.
  5. To reduce the incidents and consequences of fire within Fylde District. In particular, to reduce the risk from fire to older persons and other vulnerable groups. To reduce the number of incidents of arson and its effect on the community and environment.
