Ribble Valley - Crime Audit
Welcome to the third Crime and Disorder Audit which has been compiled by the Ribble Valley Crime Reduction Partnership . The Partnership has been in existence for six years and consists of the main statutory agencies that have a legal requirement to work together towards reducing crime and disorder in the Ribble Valley . These agencies are:
| Ribble valley Borough Council | Lancashire County Coucil |
| Lancashire Constabulary | Lancashire Police Authority |
| Probation Services (NOMS) | Lancashire Fire and rescue Services |
| Hyndburn & Ribble Valley Primary Care Trust |
Together we have looked at what the current problem areas are. We have married Police statistics, together with data from other agencies to provide a meaningful picture of what the issues are. It is interesting to see that many of the agencies statistics mirror one another in terms of where the problem areas are.
Statistics do not however, give the full picture. It is also about analysing those incidents, identifying patterns and trends and then looking at initiatives to combat the problem.
Public opinion is also vital. We have been party to an East Lancashire – wide Citizens Panel which has looked at a number of questions directly canvassing people’s views on Crime and Disorder issues. A total of 800 Ribble Valley residents sit on this panel and their views are a representative sample of Ribble Valley residents.
Those views have then been married up to the statistical data to check that what people think of as the problems are in fact what the figures tell us. In most instances this is the case. Where peoples concerns and crime data do not agree we will address those issues in our next Strategy. The Ribble Valley CDRP will analyse the data to formulate its' Crime Strategy for the period 2005 – 2008. To view the Crime and Disorder summary please use the link below:
