Ribble Valley - Community Safety Strategy
The third Ribble Valley Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership Strategy comes as a direct result of the Crime and Disorder Audit of 2004. That audit conducted with the statistical help of the Multi-Agency Data Exchange (MADE) gave a snapshot of not only crime, disorder and anti social behaviour but a whole plethora of other related information. Accident and Emergency stats, social deprivation, arson and deliberate fire setting, drug arrests and treatment all of these component parts make up the crime picture for the Ribble Valley.
Fourteen key themes emerged ranging from Travelling Criminals (those who travel into the Borough from both near and far specifically to commit crime) to Substance Abuse and Rubbish Dumping to Criminal Damage.
Crime is dynamic. It knows no boundaries. One of the biggest problems is with travelling criminals and we aim to work closely with our neighbouring areas to target criminals who commit crime in the Ribble Valley but live elsewhere.
We will also closely monitor crime patterns over the next three years. If an area is in danger of becoming a crime hot spot we will target our available resources to tackle the problem. We aim to make this Crime Reduction Strategy our most successful ever.
