West lancashire Community Safety Crime Audit
The West Lancashire Community Safety Partnership has developed a reputation
for being one of the foremost thinking Crime and Disorder Reduction
Partnerships in the land.
Working with our partners and the community we have made very real gains in
terms of not only fighting crime, but also in promoting community reassurance. In
particular we have sought to tackle ‘yob culture’ and its causes.
Central government has placed crime and disorder at the very top of its agenda
and the District Council and its partners continue to be fully committed at a local
level with the assistance and contributions of members of our community.
The District Council prides itself on its track record of engaging with local
communities and seeking solutions with the added value of local ownership.
There are many challenges ahead, and significant legislative changes to
embrace but with the help of communities I believe the West Lancashire
Community Safety Partnership will continue to flourish and achieve even greater
successes in the future.
This audit document paints a picture of the current situation in West Lancashire.
In March 2005 we will publish our new 3 year Community Safety Strategy based
not only on these findings, but also public perceptions of crime.
